My name is Daniil Galakhov. I am an independent astrodynamics and astrogation (space navigation) expert.

My greatest interests are space flights, spacecraft control, and algorithms and math to do this.

The core driver of my interests is practical usage of outer space – for expansion and colonization, resources extraction, infrastructure placement, and as a power domain.

Backstory

Early interest to space I started to feel about 1998-1999, after reading soviet sci-fi. Any serious studies of real space engineering or education in aerospace domain were impossible for me because of family and social problems in Russia of 1990s. Despite this, my interest to space exploration and space flights still existed because of computer games and anime.

Since year 2002 I started to work as an IT specialist, and for many years I was a system administrator and a programmer (in web development, medical applications, and gamedev).

In year 2013-2018 I participated in number of “garage” space startups as co-founder, programmer and manager. We developed and launched sounding rockets, planned space projects, studied space economy. This activity had no success but helped me to understand basics of space industry and space engineering, and gave me useful contacts and knowledge.

Additionally, this helped me to understand my key interest in space domain. Gained experience showed me that I am especially interested in space flights, navigation, guidance and control. Basing on this, I started deeper studies of astrodynamics and linked disciplines since year 2019.

This site

On this site I summarize and represent my experience. Main purpose of this site is to be sort of a portfolio, showing my knowledge to potential employers.

Additionally, this is a “public backup” where I’m publishing information of my projects and insights I think important.
